tips for smooth hounds please

#1 Post by evan699 »

Me and fishy1987 are going to wexford after our first hounds next weekend if the weather plays ball. Neither of us have fished for them before. I know that people use pulley pennel rigs for them but what size hooks are best. What strength snoods are best. Is there much difference in catch rates when using fresh or frozen crab. I've also heard that rag are a good standby bait, is this true. Any other advice that anyone would like to offer will be taken on board and much appreciated.

Thanks,
Evan

Never fished for them here but did a lot in south wales. The previous post covers most things. As has been said crab seems the best bait but you can bulk it out with squid, rag king prawn ect. Some of the lads in wales are using frozen crab from the chinese supermarket and it is working well. Fish with the drag on and dont walk away from your rod
good luck
