Tope Tactics

Heading out from wexford harbour on friday evening hoping for some tope

anyone got any tips or tactics ?
Species 2010.(2) Doggie, Cod
Species 2011.(12) Dab, Coalie, 5 Bearded Rockling, Whiting, Doggie, Pollock, Shanny/Common Blenny, Silver Eel, Mackerel, Wrasse, Sting Ray, Cod

Species 2012.(5) Sea Scorpion, Pollock, sand eel, mackerel, corkwing wrasse.

I use a large single hook wire trace which are easily put together if you have the gear, if your not going to go out for them often, buy some ready made from a good tackle shop :wink:

For bait i tend to use a whole mack flapper with the tail removed. If the flapper is getting a bit of interest from doggies i just use a mack with the tail off hooked through the head. Now the big question "Rubby or not to Rubby" I have used both tactics and have caught fish so I am undecided, though when i used rubby i had more dogs around. The fishing can be a bit slow sometimes its a patience game, but worth the wait when you hook 1. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
