Penn Firetip / Gen X 7000 - Any Opinions?

Hi Folks,

I'm currently on the lookout for a new rod / reel, but as a relative newcomer I don't want to spend too much to begin with. Most of my fishing will be from piers or from rocks onto relatively clean round.

I noticed that Gerrys (http://www.gerrysfishing.com) are doing a Penn Firetip combo (13ft, 3 piece, Firetip surf rod with a Gen X 7000 fixed spool reel for about £50.

Question is, has anybody had any experience with these rods (or the Gen X reel) and could recommend them (or otherwise)...
