Fethard on sea.

#1 Post by finding nemo »

Hello everyone,

Myself, Krusty , Wrasseking and Powderkeg have a house rented down in hookless village on the 15th for a week.
Has anyone got any tips on the area. We have researched the area a goodbit but as they say some local knowledge is best.
We will be targeting mainly bass but would like to target ray, bream and pollack also.
Is there any bait shops around?
Can anyone recommend a good charter in the area?
Dont think ive been this excited about a holiday since i went to disney land :D

Any advice would be great.

Cheers,
Rob

Hi Rob, Sandeel Bay is close to where you are staying and good for Bass. If the weather is good it will be busy with swimmers though so late evening and night is best. Also the Harbour near feathard is good for macs and the rocks at the back of it. I've always gone up to Kilmore Quay for the charter. Dick Hayes has always looked after us well 087254911. Have a great time. I'm sure you will get a few pm's from the Wexford lads who will know a lot more than me.
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.

Heading down to Fethard on Sea for the firt 2 weeks of July for the family holiday. Was down that way before and only fished the harbour as I had the kids with me but it did produce some Macks. The rocks around the Hook Lighthouse look a likely spot but not sure how safe they are as I was only there on a calm day.
I'll be looking out for your reports or would appreciate a PM on how you got on.

Hello

Stayed in this area a week last year and fish it a few times this year. This is a great place.

You can expect pollacks, coalies, mack and bass down the Hook lighthouse.

There is also a lots of small beaches and cove down the road to Hook Head.

And you're not far from Bannow estuary, which is your best bet from bream there.

I think there is a small shop on the road to Hook Head. The only shadow in this angling paradise and that can be a real nightmare: WEED :?

But the place is just beautifull, love it :D
