Was just wondering is it worthwhile fishing in a westerly wind? What could i expect to get if so? Any help would be appreciated thanks

Re: Westerly Wind?
Here on the east coast I like a westernly, flattens the sea and is great for hounds and ray, both like calm seas and the tail wind gives you an extra few yards casting distance.

here on the west coast it creates a huge swell so it becomes unfishable,,,,if you can fish it you could certainly expect to get a few species,,,,,ah sure obama is here today so no need to go fishing

yes, as long as you arent getting blown off your feet or risking your life with huge waves comin at ya (depending what way your shore is facing) - it is blowing a gale at the moment!Larry 90 wrote:Was just wondering is it worthwhile fishing in a westerly wind? expect to get fish.., the types of species will depend on what sort of environment you are fishing

I'd say the 100km per hour winds out there today will give you a few extra yards for sure. Not fishable in my opinion though no matter where you are. Only the hardcore lads even think twice about going out on a day like today:)

Re: Westerly Wind?
Thanks for all the advice lads much appreciated always learining, you hear so much about the different winds and how they can help or hinder your fishing and things are slow enough for me latley not catching as much as would like to be
although no matter how much you catch you will say that
so i didnt want to go and get blown out of it if the fish were gonna be hiding! i wasent sure what the water would be like either especially with those strong winds as chuckaroo mentioned its not worth risking your life for! I shall look out for the westerlys so except if i head out west sometime!
As for Obama he really only came over to try get a few Irish Bass only to find its closed season so he went for a Guiness instead
Is Féidir linn I think not come back next month
