Going on a trip to Fermanagh

#1 Post by Gabbey11 »

Hey Guys,
At the end of May Im going on a trip to a little place near Kesh, going to get a few days out.
Before I go wouldnt mind making a few rigs to suit but have no idea if anything special is around this area.
Any advice on rigs or even areas in which I should go.
Thanks

A wire trace with a couple of trebles and half a mackeral should pick you up pike. Maggots on a small hook with a swimfeeder and groundbait should get you whatever else is about. I wouldn't bother with rag or lug lol. You might also want to invest in a map of our beautiful island ! :D

Possibly a 9 foot fly rod and some dry mayfly and sedge? A friend of mine got his first brownie of 2011 last Sat near Belleek, 4.5lb on size 16 dry sedge. Mackerel and maggots as Joey says too for the other species. Deadly place.

Nah not sea fishing that would be a new one haha.
Time to get out the old fly rod that should make this interesting, havent pike fished in a while so better make sure ive got what i need.
Brother was in the same spot and lifted out a 1.5lb pike but he was afraid of the fish haha
Ill update this with the exact spot im going to tomorrow morning and see if anyone knows what works.

the pike fishing can be good all around that area as can the trout and if you are very lucky you might even bag your self a salmon.

below is a link to a map of that area:

Gabs speak to my uncle Mo before you go down, he fishes down there a lot so I'm sure he'll be able to give you a few pointers and maybe lend you some gear if you need it.
