Shore Fishing in Wexford

#1 Post by Dean »

Hi there,

Does anyone have any tips for fishing in Wexford? We are going over next weekend to a place called Morriscastle in Wexofrd.
We will be doing some shore fishing. Are there any popular marks that we should know about?
What type of rigs, bait etc. I haven't fished in Wexofrd before. Any help/tips would be much aprreciated.

Thanks
Dean

Hi Dean,

The beach at Morriscastle can be a good spot. Full of small flounder and the odd migrating bass this time of year. Use 2 hook flappers with long snoods about 2 foot with size 2 and 4 hooks. Bait wise crab, lug, rag and mac. You can cast out some crab to see if any smooth hounds are about on a pulley with a 1/0 or 2/0 hook. Courtown is a 15 min drive and there is a tackle shop there. You might want to ring to order your bait. The beaches around there are good too so ask the lads in the shop they are more then helpful.
