where's all the crab gone???

#1 Post by RobR »

went down to the local estuary to see if I could gather a few crab the other night, dunno if it's even the right time of year down here (the sunny south east) but I was board and ah sure it was a nice eve too. anyway after turning over most of the Rocks in the estuary I didn't find anything only tiny baby crabs and goby's. Any one know were there all gone or what they do this time of year??? or are the crabs just takin the easy option and bedding down in the provided accommodation ie all the tyres laid out for them... any info would be great.... and no, I don't, didn't or wouldn't go through anyone's tyres... want to get good at collecting them from scratch..

same up here in the north man. all my traps seem oddly empty :| :| :| not even any hardbacks about in the estuary or shore. but got a few in donegal the other week well into the peeling process :P :P :P . must just be a regional thing as we seem to have no problem with hardbacks eating our baited hooks when fishing

There is no shortage of peelers down here in Tralee, the estuary at Blennerville is a real hot-spot. I am not a "tyre" man myself, I like to lift the rocks and search along the shore.
