Tiga Headlamp Battery

#1 Post by SirSquiglum »

Headlamp Battery has finally gave in, charge is gone completely. After charging fully i get about 1hr of light at best and then its gone.
Does any1 know where i can get a cheap battery to replace this or is it possible to make up a battery unit for it without buying a Tiga make/model battery!

Any info would be much appreciated, tanx, all the best sQuig........

you can get a 6v 14ah battery from maplins, all you will have to do is get some new connections also from maplin
if you find maplin too dear look at the auction site do a search for 6v 12 or 14 ah batterys
just found this 8) 3rd down on the left.

I have a tiga that is about six years old and the connections went straight on the new maplins battery .About €26 for the new sealed valve battery if I remember rightly. Well worth the money to be able to see what you are doing at night. I did just give the terminals an extra squeeze with some pliers and cover the terminals with waterproof tape when I had fitted them.

Before you go out and spend your hard earned cash, try leaving the battery on charge for 10 to 12 hours after it shows its fully charged. Some times with rechargable batterys if they are recharged before they are fully flat the built in memory will only charge to that point. So by leaving it on charge it forces the memory back and to its original state. You would expect a 12v 14ah battery to last longer than a year no matter how many times it has been charged.Hope this helps.

whats up mr colgan you langball  do you use the original tiga charger on it coz mine broke and wouldn charge after around 10 charges on the battery and it eventually broke the original battery also  just get yourself the battery in maplins 6v 10ah and ask them for then charger to charge it,the only bad thing about the maplins charger is it prob takes 30-36 hours to charge the battery fully so a spare battery charged up for a weekend away is a definite
