New Penn 525 extra mag!

Was just wondering if anyone has one off these.

I just got one, and was wondering if I should put in the extra magnets! Was also wondering if I should put in the upgraded bearings it comes with! Was also wondering if there is any website which has a diagram for this reel so I can see what way it all works, never took apart a reel with magnets.

I got the same reel a month or two ago and i havent bothered with the extra mags or bearings ive only started using a multi and once your not trying to hit the horizon at the start you should be fine.Get plenty of practice and make sure you have all mags switched on.I took mine apart today cleaned oiled/greased it and put it back with out any trouble just take your time and do it in stages i actually enjoyed doing it .Best of luck

I want to be able to cast it out full launch with baits, was just wondering if the faster bearings are worth putting in, or if the original bearings are just as good!

Oh i get your drift now,im sure there is some of the lads that have put in the upgraded bearings and they will be able to tell you,you must be well able to cast a multi

the upgraded bearings will make it faster, but also depends on what type of oil you use to, to be honest its perfect for fishing with the standard bearings and without the extra mags, unless you feel you need more breaking

That's all i need to know, cheers mate. If it's fine running standard out the box then I keep it that way. Don't want make it to fast, as it's for off the beach and normal fishing!

I too am new to multipliers,(I bought some s/h a few weeks ago) and just last week added the extra magnets to stop birdies on casts and it worked perfectly.
My head was wrecked before i did it and what a difference afterwards, I'm sure its costing me a bit of distance but at least my bait is in the water and I'm not spending my time untying knots....
