Scarce Lug

Hi Lads,

I went to dig black lug last weekend but the beach I normally dig had little or no casts. Do lug die off after spawning or could there be some other reason? This was the first time I'd been there since the autumn. Any answers appreciated

It could just be the weather, strong winds or rain can make the casts disappear.

prob the weather mate.strong winds also flaten the casts makin them impossible to find.

Not for the first time on on this site I've learnt that the simplest or most sensible solution is not the one that makes it into my brain first

I was out myself recently. The lug were deep. Maybe 2 - 2 1/2 fork depths deep.

As said above the casts may not be visable due to the weather but I would usually try a couple of exploratory digs in the usual areas. If there are worms here you will see the tunnels running down
