i have only ever had sole once it was off the railings just up from the aquarium before they ruined my favorite fishing spot and dumped a million tones of shingle on bray beach i had six that night up to 25 cm ,i,ve never got one since ,anyone know any spots where they might show up?

i was reading a mag on sole there a while back.have never caught 1 me self but wud love too.small mouths on them.apperently they come close to the shore and move better at nite.they prefer muddy type bottoms too.beads and attractors work well too.did the shingle that was dumped have its advantages too for other species??????????????

no it fecked up a brilliant mark ,during the summer you could sit your rods on the railings sit on the wall and their was plenty to look at even if you where blanking

Rumours of very small (5cm-10cm) sole found in the shallows around sutton.

Dont know if they could be targetted in the area, or where they dissapear to

The odd one caught as bye catch on arklow south beach, probably very few anglers using bait/hooks small enough for them to be a common catch.

Hooks as small 8-10 size can be used

Ive had them in nets around ringsend yacht club roger. Muddy ground just upriver of it. Small but probably big enough to catch on a hook.

Iv read an article about catching them before, i think it was in one of the sea angler magazines. They were using long three hook flappers with booms and light flurocarbon snoods, a small splitshot beside each hook to keep it tight to the bottom with head hooked rag for bait. I think it said night time was best or when the water was coloured in the day.

If your ever going to try for them give me a shout, they are my favorite fish to eat, id love to be able to say i'v caught one.
