Donegal shore "help"

Hi all anglers
just new to the site and willing to learn more about this wonderful sport/hobby. I'm pretty new to sea shore angling and totally new to winter shore fishing. I'm living in north donegal and wonder if it's worth a throw in this area as opposed to the south of the country. If so i would appreciate a few tips on where to go, rocks/piers etc. baits, lures, techniques, tides and types of fish i will encounter at this time of year. Is spinning any good at this t
ime of year. I hopefully will be fishing this weekend either fanad, dunfanaghy, rathmullan or downings area. Weather permitting.

Any help would be Great !!!!!!!

heading to donegal this weekend me self on the beach first time this winter expecting some codling and flaties but not sure what is out there
spinning i think its not the best of all this time of the year unless in deeper water for colies

I was thinking spinning might not be the best at this time of year. It seems to be more beachcasting with baits. Think there is a few ray about. I hear of a few being caught around Fahan.. Codling would be nice though. A few bass would be nicer if one can find them.

Heard today on the grapevine that the occasional Bass is being taken in the usual spots, on a fairly regular basis.

just wondering do you know where the usual spots are? Even with miles and miles of coastline sometimes you can spend a full day checking out new territory with no success,
wonder would bass or pollock fall to a spinner or plug at time of year

Bait is your best bet at this time of year, give it another 2 or 3 months before starting on lures.

As for marks - you'll never learn much about one in a day. Fish it over different tides/weathers/times of year to learn what it'll produce.

To be honest, it's not hard to find pollock in Donegal. You could throw stones into the tide at random and have a pretty good chance of hitting one. Bass are a lot more elusive...

If you want to give the lures a go - try spinning jelly worms at deep rock marks. Or if you fancy combining both head hook live worms on jig heads

Tough enough time of the year to be trying Donegal marks, still can be good if you put the hours in. Best of luck with it.
