swim feeder ideas

good topic ,been thinking about this myself for a while , lots of good ideas, gonna try it but there will be two hooks attached to the feeder just in case a five hook flapper

Try the white piping that people use for overflows on water tanks. Take about 4.5 " length. Drill a load of holes in it. Now take a length of 80-100LB mono feed it down through some of the holes on the pipe. Attach a snap swivel or a link to the end and something similar at the top. Now you can attach your gripper weight or bomb weights to one end (then pull the weight up so it is snug against the bottom of the feeder) and attach the other end to you trace. I fill it up with chopped up sand eel, worms, and usually some carp ground bait or crushed up trout pellets. You can then stuff toilet paper in the top or the dissolvable sponge that carp anglers use and cast away. Streamlined so casting not really affected that much Have used this approach for a few years, one rod with the feeder and another (both at the same distance) and the feeder usually out fishes the other by about 2:1. However sometimes dumb conger can keep picking up the feeder and attempt to run away with it. If you are in a snaggy area then use in conjunction with a lead lift

Oh yeah i forgot to mention that i tried the film canister idea out last time i was fishing a couple of weeks ago,seemed to do the trick all right,I forgot to bring stuff to fill it with so i bought some dog food at a super valu,(heard about this being done) Guess what i caught with it!!!

Hi guys - I was thinking of incorporating a swimfeeder into some of my rigs (especially scratching rigs). I was planning on using a film canister, drilled with holes and threaded on behind the lead. Then maybe stuff it with cotton soaked in the icky fish and worm juice from my bait tray. Any of you guys have any other tips/ideas on the matter?

Hi there been useing a swimfeeder for years with a varying degree of success.The plastic film roll canister have been the best so far used to use cotton soaked in fish oil but now use a shamwoo cloth which soakes much more fluid I attach the film box through a long nose lead and dont have any dificulty in casting perfict for bringing doggies and smoothounds into your fishing area.
