Is wind direction important.

I was thinking of going out fishing tonight but i was told its a waste of time with the north easterly wind blowing,what effect does the wind direction have on fishing?i know a northerly is cold a southerly is milder and an easterly can bring in the weed but thats it realy,i regulary hear lads stressing how important it is to get the conditions rite. .Any info wold be great

if you waited till the conditions are" right " you would be lucky to ever get out fishing if you have the itch then go for it ,it might not be pleasant to stand on a beach in the lashing rain with your rod tips bouncing about and sand stuck to everything but if you get a few fish and blow the cobwebs away why not i like gank weather and the cold you normally have the beach to yourself unless you can find some other hardcore fishermen
(p.s i was out the last two nights and havnt got anything dry to wear for tonight )

Easterly's & South Easterly's are about the best wind you can get for your area (Shankill) Corbawn lane and Bray.
Its produces the best conditions for Cod especially.

Any north in it and it can destroy the fishing, lots of people have different theories on the reasons for this. The latest one i heard is that the temp of the water changes and the fish head to deeper water!! I have always noticed the east beaches just dont produce at all with a northerly.. the only fish i have ever got during a northerly have been flounder!!

I also heard that any sort of a northerly wind ruins the fishing, and when i look back to the colder nights i fished over the last while with a northerly blowing its been desperate ,cheers for that
