waterford port is indeed in county kilkenny, ya won't get fishing in the harbour. they tightened the security in all the big ports since 9,11. the nearest point with easy access is further up the river at gyles quay, lots of gud codling showing last week. tides will be to strong to fish the river this weekend, you will only get a few hours at low or high tide then the current will be to strong. all this rain might push the fish back out again as well.

Re: Gorteens Waterford/Killkenny
you can fish the ferry bank side of the port about 3 miles from the railway station, but last week there were about 30 people fishing the carpark accross from shaws, they all had cod, with the rain in the river it will push fish back, and waterford is on flood alert this weekend, with massive tides and winds onshore, most fish were about 3lbs but some had cod to 6lb,when the river drops and maybe a cold spell it pick up again,it seems to be a very good year for cod,and looks like its running in a 4 year cycle,eddie.........
