Whiting in South Dublin?
As its coming into the winter i'm just wondering if there are any large whiting(30 cms ->) to be had. I live near the West Pier in Dun Laoghaire, but will go as far as Shankhill and everywhere in between. Have heard rumours of big whiting off back of West Pier but not sure if they're true? Thanks in advance.

if you do go hang your bait in a bucket from your rod stand, or the RATS will have it gone in a flash

Got a great tip for this recently off Mark Brady bring a small radio and leave it near your bait or have a flashing light it deters them.

Re: Whiting in South Dublin?
ive always found the back of the east pier to be fairly productive for the oul whiting. plenty around the 25cm bracket. killiney can usually be realiable enough for them later in the year on cold calm evenings over high water

Re: Whiting in South Dublin?
there used to be plenty of decent whiting off the end of the west years ago. dont know if there still there cause i havent tried for them but i always found that flat calm seas on a winters evening where best. used to always use fish baits as well.
