Hi all,
I Just bought a shakespeare salt mx, and was wondering what was best to fix the reel to the rod, been reading up on coasters, and came across the abu grip lock on ebay. Is this a better solution?
Also I'm pretty knew to using a multiplier and have no idea of positioning it on the rod, is it just a matter of feel and getting the balance right? Or is there a recommended distance from the rod butt?
Would appreciate any help
Cheers

Re: Shakespeare salt mx, coasters or abu grip lock??
The only problem I find with the likes of the abu grip lock is that it just doesn't grip down well enough on to the rod with some of my reels, I did solve this problem with a bit of electrical tape in behind. I'd rather it over coasters any day though. Another option is the Penn talon, little bit on the expensive side at around about €30 but I definitely think I'll be purchasing one in the not too distant future.
As for reel positioning, it really is just a case of getting the balance right, have a few casts on the beach with your reel in various positions and you'll soon find a position you feel comfortable with and that suits you best.

Thanks Shambo, just read a few reviews, this seems like a sensible buy!
Cheers
