Hi all
I never used a multiplier reel before and was wondering if some one could recommend a good one for starting off and a beach caster that would go well with it.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Rod and reel
the older green abu 6500 is a good starter multi as its got plenty of braking and is easy enough to control.
as for the rod, ive mine on a century TTSM and also use it on a Powertex Bass rod.
the reel is for clean ground only tho. if im fishing heavy ground i use a penn 525mag on a penn roughstuff 14ft rod or on the century.
the 525 wouldnt be the best multi to use for the first time tho. have a look at the new Akios range, their getting great reviews here but dunno if they would suit a beginner as ive not used one.
a good 2nd hand green abu or a 525mag could be gotten for about €50-€70. keep an eye out in the for sale section for them.

Re: Rod and reel
I've recently got back to fishing and was using a fixed spool
Wanted to give the multi a go and got an abu 6500 (green one) from Don here on the site
I find it a great reel to cast with and would recommend it myself
