Sonik Sk4 Boat?

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Sonik Sk4 Boat?

#1 Post by Drew »

Has anybody used one of these bad boys? I've been told to go the extra tenner for a Penn, But the soniks do look quite sexual. :)

I'm a bit of novice with regards to boat rods as I've only really got into boat fishing these last few months but for what its worth I use a 12-20lb penn powerstix pro and my fishing partner recently purchased a 20-30lb sonik sk4, granted the rod is quite sexual looking and he loves it to bits, but I'd have the penn over it any day, for a 20-30lb class it seems a lot softer than my lower class rod. I presume your considering going for the waveblaster evo which would be better again than the powerstix pro so if it was me I'd splash out the extra tenner, I know the waveblaster is on my shopping list

Powerstick 12-20 a lovely rod for the money. Dont use that type of rod anymore but have no issues recommending that one.

I am in the same boat ( ) as yourself, just purchased 2 new boat rods, and I ended up going for the Daiwa Super Kenzai Braid Special off the back of a tonne of good press on the World Sea Fishing forums. I went 6-12lb and 12-20lb class rods, got them for 80 quid each (sterling), just waiting on them arriving now. Will probably look at a 20-30lb some time as well for sharking/congers.

Similar price range as the rods you are looking at, could be worth a look but prob just add more confusion to your choice!
