Is that the usual? If so - not that I've been down there very often this year either - I'm only getting the odd fish, but usually almost exactly mid tide, both coming and going. Usually I'd say it doesn't matter down there about state of tide as long as its moving and it is definitely no respecter of solunar theory, from my experience when fishing it loads. Basically that beach has a mind of its own and there is no rhyme nor reason, just have to put in the time there and it seems to reward you accordingly. I'd fish it any time, but a bit of surf helps for the bass alright. We had bass, flounder, dogs and codling from it Saturday (I say we - I only caught one bassred wrote:i fished a spot last night that ive found to be best around 2 hours before and after low water. i had a good load of Bass on this beach last year but havent really fished it much recently.
i got there at 9 o clock(lw at 12ish) and saw a decent surf running. the conditions were perfect and i thought Bass, not if id catch one, but how many.
ended up with a load of small strap congers and a total haul of 0 Bass![]()

ive had bass there at all stages of the tide too but seem to get more around the low water mark and the bigger fish seem to be gotten then too. a few people ive said it to agree with me, and a few dont so i think your right about it having a mind of its ownthescotsman wrote: Is that the usual?
