Bream & Trigger fish.

#1 Post by Pyreneenguy »

I know reports for the Mizen Head area are few and far between, but I was hoping someone might be able to offer something :

I was wondering if species like black/ gilthead bream or trigger-fish show-up, early September ? Sea temperatures are at their highest and logically,
if these species are going to show, it would be the best time !

I'm not after venues, but just to know if anyone has already caught them in the Mizen / Beara area.

Cannot say for the Mizen but triggers on the Beara, caught 2 today, and there was a trevally caught two weeks ago mixed in with a shoal of triggers.

What tactics/ bait do you use to target the Trigger fish? There has been a few different reports of triggers being washed up on the beaches of both east and west shores of Inishowen, so they must be out there?

I was actually float fishing for mullet and the triggers attacked the float so I just stuck on a limpet fished about 2 foot deep and away it went. So easy when it happens like that.
