hi guys,
Was thinking of going fishing over in fountainstown, on the rocks to the left hand side of the beach. Ive been fishing in the back river/estuary when the tide is out but no luck. What kind of fish can i expect from the rocks? Il be using Lugworms and Ragworms.
I was also wondering how Myrtleville/Fennell's bay would fish.
Thanks alot.

the further up you go the better chance you have of fish. plenty pollack to spinners but their all small, biggest ive ever has was about 1.5lbs.
loads of doggies there and the odd thornback ray but if your up near the bouy but youll need a cast of about 80yards minimum to get past the snags and have any hope of landing a fish. i use pulleys with a rotten bottom there with frozen sand eel or fresh mack but havent fished it in a while.

Thanks for your reply.
I was hoping for a few flatties. How are my chances? And are there any whiting around at this time of year ?
Cheers

Re: RE: Fountainstown
i had some decent sized whiting there 2 years ago but didnt really fish it last winter. never caught a flat down there tho. like i said, dogs, dogs, dogs and more dogs and maybe a ray if your lucky. never had a ray there myself but a friend had a few there up near the bouy. i also hooked a pretty big sea trout on a spinner but didnt land it(thats my "one that got away story"
) id imagine there would be a few flats about in the estuary but never fished it.
good luck.
good luck.
