Ian Golds International Match or Extractor for the beach?

I'm looking for a new rod up to around the £200 mark and have heard great things about the Ian Golds range of rods. I mainly fish on clean shingle beaches but there quite deep water with strong tides and weed.

The two rods I've looked at are the Ian Golds Extractor and Internation Match, I would like a rod with a forgiving through action that can handle 6oz (170g) and a good size bait and something with a good feel and sensitivity. I'm not sure which rod would suit my needs better, from what I've read the International Match has a better fishing tip, but I haven't heard much feedback on how it handles 6oz + bait. On the other hand the Extactor may handle heavier leads better, but I don't want a hernia pole with no feel, I need to be able to bend it on the beach.

I usually cast with an aerialised groundcast/mini pendulum, with the lead inside the tip but sometimes I have to cast off the ground due to the terrain. I'm not a great caster, my PB over grass with no wind and casting slightly uphill is 170 yards using my fishing cast, 6oz and a 15 year old 12ft Team Daiwa Paul Kerry Rod. Although on average around 150-160 yards in the same conditions.

I recently had a go with a friends Century C3 LD, it cast very well and was forgiving and I was approaching my PB distance into a headwind, but I thought the tip looked rather thick for fishing, and I wasn't convinced about the feel of it.

I'd very much appreciate some feedback on the two Ian Golds rods.

I've cast both rods and they are well capable of 6oz + bait, so no worries there.
Ive even cast 8oz on the Match at full tilt and not a bother... 1st time out on the court with it and i did 247 yds.
As you said the Match has a slightly softer tip but the Extractor has a more through action, if its clean to mixed ground you mainly fish id go for the Match, slim powerful and very user friendly. Hope this helps...

i have the international match,it will cast 6oz no sweat,but i find it casts better with 5oz,but mabye thats me,its a great rod to fish with with bites registering from small flounder upward,and it has no problems bringing in double figure fish like huss,ray,etc,the play that you get from the rod is excellent,and i would not swap it for anything now.

Which of the International Match rod or the Super Match Extra would be suited for general fishing and match fishing? From what I read I'd be more inclined to go for the SME as it will cast but will also allow you to see tiddler bites. I like using rods that are soft tipped as it's not likely that every trip along the east coast will produce specimens!

Having had a go with all the rods in the range for clean to mixed beach stuff I like the extra length of the Super Match Extra.

For the money the extractor is the best rod ive had the pleasure of casting every bit as good as rods twice the price
