People don't give their conger marks away because they take a lot of time and headaches to find. but start of trying at piers and really rocky ground. be prepared to have your head wreaked by them   good luck

Most old piers or harbour walls that have holes and craters in them below the water level will hold congers, rocky keply ground where they can find cover too. If you do find a likely spot, don't cast too far. I'd reccomend lobbing a bait out 20 yards and work your way out, i've caught loads of congers at 5 yards out and watched people spend all night casting over the fish. Get a bit of mackerel guts and any other bits of spare bait into the water too to get them on the feed.

Wire traces can make a right mess of the congers mouth if they take the hook deep. I use 80 lb shock leader and 200 lb snood. Better off crimping the snood if you're not used to using mono that heavy. It's a curse to knot.

you can buy conger traces in most tackle shops for about 1.50 a pop (but would you trust the knots?)

Blob the tag end of the knots and they'd probly be ok. Still rather tie my own though.
