Ello Chaps

I am taking the boys out on Thursday morning for a few hours, and I am wanting to try somewhere different. I was gonna go with what I know and just take them to Greystones, as you can pretty much guarantee a dog or two, but as I said, I fancy a change. I was doing some reading, and I came across Wicklow pier, and I think it may suit, but I have never even been there let alone fished it, so could anyone offer any decent advice about the place?

If you want to keep shared info quiet PM by all means, and it shall remain a secret

ledger near the bottom with small pieces of rag on size 4/6 and they will have great sport with small wrasse and pollack

out a bit further on the bottom will produce some small whitefish - youll probably need HW to get into some dogs with bigger baits, dabs can be gotten also

however if there are the standard beer drinking crowd, mackie bashers (has there been a run of them near there lately, there was 2/3 weeks ago?) or seeing 10cm perch!!! (wrasse) being thrown live into a black bag depresses you - you might want to avoid

sometimes you do have the place to yourself or there are some sound anglers there - if you do decide to try it - have a contingency plan - maybe head back north up the road to bray harbour

Thx for the info man. I am going on Thursday morning, HT is about 10am so hopefully will avoid the mack bashers/beer drinking crowd lol

I will however have a backup plan, and keep greystones in mind if I need a change of venue.

Matt if you go to the south pier and fish around the back of it all the fish will be at your feet. Like Corby says size 4 or 6 hooks with and inch of rag will do you. As for people on the pier they are normally sound and their is many a lad with his kids fishing. It's a great spot and you will have loads of craic.
