Portballintrae, Co Antrim 1/8/2010

People:Me and Davy (carpangler )

Duration:06.30 - 12.30

Tide:high water 10:30 ish

Weather:overcast, occasional drizzle, blustery nw wind

Bait:Rag, mackeral

Rigs:2 hook flappers

Results:Me 1 turbot, Davy 1 turbot and 1 pollock

Report:Had planned to fish Ballycastle, but decided to give the salmon rock at Portballintrae a go, as we'd meant to try it for ages. The day actually started quite well - my first cast resulted in a small turbot, and Davy's second cast produced a pollock. There were many mullet cruising, and all seemed good with the tide coming in. Then ....... nothing . Apart from a small turbot late in the day, it was a very quiet day, and very disappointing. Should 'av stuck to the original plan !!

For real . It's the first time I fished it, but I've meant to give it a go for ages. I do know of 2 guys who've had decent fish from it. I think it may be me, 'cos 2010 has been a really poor fishing year for me so far. What time of year does it fish best mate ?

unlucky with the slow session man :( . that mark seems to be either a feast or a famine   . i have heard lots of mixed reports about it recently and it seems to be if you do catch something, it will be something decent. but if not, you'll be staring a blank in the face   . at least you gave it a good go thow.
