People: Me, Conor and Cameron

Duration: 11 am - 5 pm

Tide: 3 up 3 down

Weather: Calm

Bait: Rag, frozen crab, squid, sandeel

Rigs: Pulley, standard paternosters

Results: Red gurnard, LSD, ray

Report: Decided on a session with 2 of the boys, so headed for Arklow, as I really wanted to catch some smuts. Got to the mark, set up and sent the rigs out. my rod started seeing bites straight away, but I missed alot. First blood went to Cameron with a small red gurnard, then a few minutes later Conor had a slightly bigger one, both on sandeel sections. All went quiet at the top of the tide, but the bites started again when it turned, and a good bang saw me hook into an LSD. The next cast saw me hook into my first ever ray, which as you can imagine, I was over the moon with. I would have been even happier if it was a little bigger than three inches across  Still, it was a thornie, and a fish is a fish.

No smuts, but all in all a good day out with the boys :)
