who took all the fish

#1 Post by last cast lad »

People:me

Duration:4.00-8.00pm

Tide:high at 7.00

Weather:overcast, warm, flat water in the bay, rising tide.....pretty good I thought

Bait:rag ,mackeral

Rigs:pulley, flapper, float, lures

Results:2 strap conger, 1 small flounder, 3 wrasse

Report:got set up on the rocks for what should have been a decent session at a mark that always produces the goods. Got bait out and derek arrived with a spinning rod, also full of optimisum and an hour later he had 1 small pollack to show for his efforts  while my bait kept coming back untouched, not even crabs(apart from one ugly creepy spider crab at the end of the session). As soon as the mackeral thawed I dropped the conger rig down the side of the rocks and two drops produced two strap conger, small 3 and 4lb but at least I had saved my blank, now I could relax and settle back into not catching fish again :? The guy on the next rock over decided to pack up after 3hrs and one doggie so I decided to give up too, only to pull in a small piddley flounder on a 3.0 hook  So it was obviouse that the fish had now suddenly arrived and were feeding  so out went more bait. I even decided to try my last few rag on the float and had the most action all evening as lots of little plucky 3" wrasse kept attacking the rag, eventually I landed a few more respectable, the best at 1lb 12 oz and 35cm :) At last I had run out of bait, now I could go home :D. This mark normally fishes pretty good, conditions seemed good, but I spent most of the evening being frustrated rather than relaxed :( , dogs can sense fear, mabey the fish can sense me being anxious :?
