The following idea struck me the other idea and I was wondering if anyone has tried / noticed improved results with - might sound a bit crazy but I was wondering about bringing along a mackerel or two in a small coolbox whilst lure fishing, eg. with plugs, and putting the scent of the mackerel on the lure by simply rubbing lures through the inside of mackerel

Fishy Lures?
I've heard / read a number of times about people adding scent to a lure / rig to improve the attractiveness to fish. I've come across talk of spraying a bit of WD-40 onto lure / bait, cod liver oil capsules and one or two other things.
The following idea struck me the other idea and I was wondering if anyone has tried / noticed improved results with - might sound a bit crazy but I was wondering about bringing along a mackerel or two in a small coolbox whilst lure fishing, eg. with plugs, and putting the scent of the mackerel on the lure by simply rubbing lures through the inside of mackerel
It seems to me as though this would impart an instant fish scent on the lures and might give them that extra edge especially in situations where you are getting follows on lures but the fish just don't seem to be taking...
