dublin bass quest, different result :)

#1 Post by rustyhookthomas »

People:me

Duration:10pm-midnight

Tide:h.w. 9.30pm

Weather:20 degrees, dry and westerly wind

Bait: lug

Rigs: 2 hook flapper 3oz weight and spinning rod

Results:one smoothie :)

Report:
Bass ban lifted i decided to head out for a couple of hours, especially as the next 7 days are looking very good (cortaz report)
started off a bit weedy and i was checking baits every ten min or so to remove weed and refresh the lug whitch i dug a few hours earlier. as the drop started the weed lessened and fishing big baits got easier.
i was using 2 or 3 big black lug per hook to tempt a bass but nothing was showing.
11pm came and the rod rattles, strike, fish on and a few runs and retrieves later it was lost just as i lifted the net, first bass of the year gone i thought :( quickly rebaited and lobbed it out again.
within a minute or two the rod rattled again and same runs and retrieve but felt a bit stronger.
as i got the fish under the net i was nicely surprised to have a smoothie and not the bass i was expecting :)
haha still no bass yet this year but a nice smoothie to add to my list for 2010!!
will stick a pic up later!

down that general area tonight(thursday) and got two bass around the 2 kg mark and a 30"+ smoothie!
also lost a biggie bass on my last cast of a nice 90 min session, no real pull on the line as it swam from the cast to the shore and got weeded up and legged it as i tried to stick the net under it!! haha it made the release a bit easier as the first bass
struggled bigtime. the second went like back a torpedo! :D
super few days/nights to go fishing! :) :)
