Coming to Youghall for Xmas - Advice on Marks requested

#1 Post by Jon »

Hi,
Currently living outside London, however the wife wants to go home to Youghall to visit her family for Xmas. Not all bad though as she has said I can bring my fishing tackle.

Any advice on where to fish, what tackle is required & where the right bait can be obtained would be appreciated.

target fish are likely to be big flounder, coalies and cod. some good cod to be had! standard beach gear with a decent rod to take 6oz. plus bait. bring some fixed wires. 7oz should see you able to fish the strongest runs in the tide as some places have a good flow. get a good 15lb. line that you can trust. size 1's for flounder and coalies stepping up to 4/0 or more on a short pulley for cod. you can fish the ferry bank, the harbour or the slob bank. a good cast can help at times with crab being best.
