Help in feedback Penn Surfmaster 850 & Penn Sargus 7000?

#1 Post by simplywabs »

Lads, I am looking at adding another reel to the number of reels that I have. Does anyone have experience with Penn Surfmaster 850 & Penn Sargus 7000?

I wanted to know if this is a good buy for its price and if there's any issue with it.

Thanks again!

I had the Penn surfmaster 850 and it lasted about 3 months, If you do a search on the site you will see alot of other people have similar issues. I have not used the Sargus though. If you are looking for quality you should probably look at the Shimano range, I use a daiwa emcast and I find them very reliable. JP will probably say otherwise though

Hi Al,

Thanks again for the feedback. I got a couple of PM's already with the same feedback as yours on the 750/850. basically Crap! This is the reply I sent.

"Thanks a lot for your feedback. I have a couple of Shimano Spheros 14000 FB and I love its performance. I just saw those 2 Penn ones and are cheap. My son keeps on using my Shimano reels and at times not being handled properly, that's why I am trying to add some not so expensive reels. Thanks again... I'll try to find other ones. "

yeah the 750/850 r crap man def 1 of the worst reel feedback ive ever seen, the mitchell avosurf and the daiwa emcast sport 5500/6000 is the same price range but far better reels, have a look and see what ya think.

Hi Wabs

The 750 and 850 are not the best reels around, have not used the sargus so cannot compare but one of the lads is using a shimano Ultegra reel and it is a great reel, bit on the pricy side but is a beauty of a reel

Regards

Seamus
