shakespeare salt spin

I have / had a Shakespeare Salt spinning rod . . . loved it. Last night at Lenan pier the mid-section snapped. anyone heard of this problem before with these rods? Am I snookered if it's more than a year old? :cry:

If I knew the answer to that . . . . :lol: All I know is that it snapped in the middle of a cast . . .
