16 foot rod or multi which one

Lads i was thinking about buying a daiwa grand surf 16 foot rod,as i have only ever fished with a fixed spool reel and i was just wondering is it any use or would i be better off buying a multiplier and rod and learning to use it. if so can you advise me on what type of rod and reel i should start with and is there somewhere i can get casting lessons.

i bought a Abu Garcia Stigma yesterday, 13ft, its made for multiplier reels but i was told my fixed spool would work perfect on it, brought it out today and it is amazing, the weight balance, the cast, and the bite detection, its a great rod
