sea trout? + how to stop crab

Hi all was fishing in wexford last night and there was fish jumping just out in front of me just woundering what it might be and if it was sea trout how could i catch them and another question when i was fishing all most all of my hooks came back in bare beacuse of crab is there any way to stop them taking my bait

Probably would be trout, you could try a bubble float with a thin belly strip of mack 3' behind or maybe just spin for them?

they wouldnt take any spinners or lug so dont know what they would take

if they were only splashing on the top of the water they could be mullet? they can be crafty fish to get?

why dont u try the bubble and fly

why not try crab floats they keep you bait just off the bottom so the crabs can't get them
