Was it Brendan Shine used to sing that one way back?seanie35 wrote:never poke a spider crab with your lure rod
Seriously tho, commiserations, I'd've eaten the frigger raw for that.... there's a lot of them round the edges of the Black Rocks at the west end of Ballyquin, so no poking there.

Re: spider crab
theres plenty of flesh in the main body aswell - just not as handy as the legs - give it 15mins to break it down slowly - well worth the effort - just mind your fingers when your breaking it and teasing out the flesh!seanie35 wrote:i had mine for lunch very tastey bit of work involved getting the flesh out of the legs, think its legs only for the fleshHooker wrote:seanie35 wrote:didnt know you could train themDanny M. wrote:O dear !

oops thought it was just legs, opened the main body looks of guck and what looked like lungs so wasnt sure and wasnt taking any chances, that lure rod is now a lite boat rodtheres plenty of flesh in the main body aswell - just not as handy as the legs - give it 15mins to break it down slowly - well worth the effort - just mind your fingers when your breaking it and teasing out the flesh

Re: spider crab
the gluck can just be washed off - the flesh that comes out of the sockets goes further up a bit into the body cavity

Re: spider crab
tasty crabs for sure:) plently of meat in the claws, never took the meat out of the legs because there is plenty in the body and claws for 2 people, also a fan of the brown (king?) crab.
tasted out the claws with a finger, ouch! lesson learned:)
