another donegal Thornback

#1 Post by last cast lad »

People:me, joined by mick later

Duration: roving between marks all day

Tide: everything

Weather: great

Bait: rag, lug, mackeral

Rigs: pulley, flapper

Results:
7.5lb thornie, coalfish, doggies, flounder

Report:

Headed to our winter thornie mark and started of with a great thumping take on the first cast, caught the rod butt as the top section hit the water  and after a good fight on a light rod landed my best this year yet at 7.5lb. :D :D Then nothing for about 2.5hrs so headed round to another deep water mark roving over the rocks for a few hours with the spinning rod and managed 4 coalfish between 30-40cm. Stopped for dinner at local resturant (sirloin steak, pepper sauce and champ to celebrate my thornie  ) Then joined mick at the beach, he managed a flounder and I only conected with a doggie after missing a distinctive rattle

nice one alastair 8) your having great sucess with the thornies man. can't wait for them to make their way up to fahan so we can have a go at them again   and remember if you get one at 8lb you can get your shimano mission badge from the sea angler magazine  all you need is a good pic and a first class stamp  . i was gutted last year as my biggest from fahan was 7lb 14ozs, just 2 ozs shy of the target weight
