i guess nothing has changed in 20 yrs lol remember one guy stuffing a 3 once weight down a pollock in a club comp when he was sussed said it was only a joke when i called for him to be disqualified it came to blows he wasent laughing long

FFS dont mention any names, i have seen cheaters doing the walk of shame aswell, sad feckers

I have to admit I have at times bent the rules a bit. Like praying cause Jesus fished so he knows the score or stand there saying to the water "here fishy, fishy, fishy". I can't comment on the success of these methods as they are varied!

Some interesting posts about bait preparation though. As opposed to presentation etc. I've found myself the last while trying lug that I've dug a day or two before I've used them to be better then fresh. And even older for flats! Or getting squid to that pinky stage is supposed to be better then straight thawed. This will be put to the test this weekend I'm sure more experienced anglers know the best way to prepare bait but I've enjoyed trying different thing to get the best out of it.

have you tried letting your lug bathe for a couple of hours in fish oil or leaving your squid for 2 days ina jar of it i think jesus would have lol

If you have some proof of lads cheating contact your provincial council, Otherwise its just a general accusation, The lads who do well consistantly are just good anglers, Like I said if you can prove it grand but some lads out there could feel they're been wrongly accused..

Theres plenty of honest good anglers out there but there is a small number of anglers in every province using other means to win .this go s on in other countrys not to far from us seeing there national captain caught for it a man who has ties with anglers in this country too. alot of views not many posts is it gilt or just afraid to get involved

you get them gitt's everywere twinkle, was at a comp one day ( fresh water trout fishing ) i asked a guy on the bank if he had any luck yet, he said he has got four so far and showed them to me. all were arond 2lb still simi hard with big "WHITE EYES" he must have taken them out of his freezer early that morning we all paid £20 a head to enter the comp, and this gitt lands with fish already in his bag this guy got a speedy exit big time

ive never seen it happen or heard of anyone do it with solid evidence to back it up. those of us involved in match angling have all heard the mandatory rumours your hear about the consistent guys ( 'oh joe bloggs won the open at the weekend', 'really? he must be using bait additives', 'yeah he does spend too much time in his beach buddy'). if its such a major problem and lets face it's obviously hard to police then why not legalise it? thus making it a level playing field for everyone? people will always be jealous of the top guys because they cant figure out how they do it week in week out. they put the hours in making traces, digging bait and doing the research on marks (apart from j.p he's just lazy).

i agree totally why not legalise it then there should be no crying over who won and why then again people will find some other reason to wine you just cant win but if you level the playing field then it should help to a degree

the thing is as far as i know it was made illegal to use additives, to do exactly that level the playing field.

you hardly think with all these bait restrictions no rag or crab they will turn around and say work away with additives, you would see lads all along the beach injecting there lug with home made crab and rag extracts

you must only get kamakazi lug down in cork, we get real lug up in Dublin good thick leathery lads that dont blow up on impact

im pretty confident no such will ever happen, well not for a long long time anyway until we become more open to change and experimentation. why are coarse anglers allowed to do it, not to mention groundbaiting? personaly i think the jury is still out as to wether or not it will make a concerted difference to catch rates, i have no experience with it so i cant comment.

if we really wanna eradicate cheating, as small as minority who do it, then there is a simple solution, see through beta boxes, abolision of comps after dark, see through beach buddies, no size limits, rules made from reinforced diamond coated titanium, angler can use as many hooks as he wants, mist fish wins. now lets go fish!
