Deep hooked conger

#1 Post by last cast lad »

Hi just wondering if there is any educted opinions on the survival rate of fish, and specifically congor who swim off with a hook in their mouth?
This past summer I landed and succesfully unhooked a nuimber of strap conger up to 10lb, (unhooking T-bars are great) but I did hook one good conger but it managed to cut/fray the 60lb rubbing leader ( I now use 150lb nylon or wire traces) and I lost the fish but wonder how it would have dealt with the hook. I use size 6.0 and 8.0 mustad hooks.
It's all about the fishing
