Met Eireann blunder
Planned to go to Youghal today and finally get a few mackerel. Then sadly, I saw the Met Eireann forecast last night ....30kph winds at Youghal,,,so I left the boat at home. Drove to youghal and Ardmore. Flat calm. Not a ripple. Not a puff of wind. Just got home and checked computer for forecast. Met Eireann have a small craft warning. No wonder there were no visiting boats out today. Just a few local lads..and...and..they were catching mackerel!! GGrrrr! Come on Met Eireann.

I dont bother with the met eireann forecasts myself, I find accuweather.com much more reliable.

Likewise. On the RTE TV forecasts they give one lot of wind speed figures verbally, and then the ones on the final visuals are often totally different. You can work it out better yourself from the Atlantic charts on the met.ie website.

Re: Met Eireann blunder
There are nice size mackerel there too
They should stay around until the rain comes and then they'll probably disappear
