trawlers

was out in a hotel in donabate friday last saw 2 trawlers about 500 yrds off donabate beach both where large boats and where moving in small circles i left 5 hrs later they were still there lights blazing just wondering what they might be after

yeah probably dredging for cockles and razor

They're dredging for razor and whelks !

i have never heard of them dredging for whelks before.
whelks are normally caught in pots in fairly deep water.

Its a method called suction dredging !

i know the methods they use for the cockles and razors, never ever heard of them targeting whelks the same way.
