Report:just back from Greystones where i had a great evenings fishing, nice and peaceful. No divers, swimmers, dinghys, seals, kids, rats, or tourists,,,,,mustve been the match

. Arrived to see my spot was available, so quickly set up. I knew a guy who was fishing there but hadnt known he was into fishing. As per usual, i cast the big rod out at mid distance (thats all i can manage

), then dropped in for minis at my feet with the small rod. A succession of small codling, blennies and wrasse duly obliged and took my bait. All photographed and put back. Some half decent wrasse also. On the big rod, i had a couple of whiting and then put some mack on for dogs, but i got a lovely flounder, best yet this year for me. The lovely Helen arrived to pick me up and i quickly dropped the big rod in close and got a thumper of a bite,,,not a bass unfortunately but a nice pollock to end the session. I was delighted as i headed home, till i remembered that i'd forgotten to pay the toll by 8pm

,,,now its 12 euro

, a tenner for petrol, 22 euros,,,,i'd have bought the bait cheaper

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,plus i also lost my bank card changing me clothes in sutton. Always end on a positive though

,,,i did have a great weekend fishing and got me first decent smoothie

ps,,,,one other thing i learned tonight was that sometimes when you think youre snagged, its because a fish has gone behind a rock. I thought i was snagged, then gave some slack line, waited,,,,then felt a pull again ,,eventually landing a blenny. This happened 3 times and left me wondering how many times ive pulled for a break when i shouldve been more patient and waited awhile. Hope this makes sense to someone
