Eels

#1 Post by beebub2 »

I caught an eel last night on Wicklow pier and wondered what type it was. Unfortuantely I don't have a photo but it was about 2 1/2 feet long and it was getting quite dark when I caught him but I'd say the top half was grey and bottow half white. His face looked quite similar to a rockling. Well his eyes did anyway, he had those mousey/ rodenty looking beady eyes that the rockling have. 8wood caught as big a rockling as I've seen also. It was a shore rockling but was aobut a pound in weight I'd say. I'm used to seeing tiddlers.

So, any guess as to the indentity of my eel?

As an aside, are Rockling & Eels related?

Thanks.

That's it. I looked up Silver Eel here: http://web.ukonline.co.uk/aquarium/index.htmlAnd that's exactly what I caught. Thanks Keith.
