theres somthing in the deep

#1 Post by twinkle »

People:myself and dave

Duration:3 till9pm

Tide:low to high

Weather:dead calm

Bait:king rag and fresh macks

Rigs:hokais killers feathers

Results:about 20 macks and 5 pollock

Report:we headed out of the harbour and went looking for macks. they were very scarce getting one here one there
had about ten in about 1hr1/2 plus a few pollock. headed out to a spot we had a good day on thursday. sent out two rods with fresh macks and two with rag. the whitning loved this they stripped it each time in seconds. the macks however were all untouched not a bite no dogs nothing. moved twice the same there.found this strange as every other time plaqued with
doggies i also have to mention the behavior of the seals on the island none were in the water for the intire trip.
i wonder does any one know if porbeagles attack seals but somthing is frighning the seals and the macks off the back of irelands eye

Derek,

They dont attack seals but since there was a 265lb Porbeagle caught 2 miles off skerries a couple of weeks ago it is probably safe to assume they would be around that deep water mark I was telling you about out there.

By the way I lost your number the lad moored beside you is hitting off your boat !!

Could well have been Orcas about, have seen seals leaving the water at pace in Orkney when the killer whales are on the go.

Up here in the far north seals and porbeagles happily inhabit the same areas, a painwhen the seals take the shark baits!
