Renvyle and Little Killary 1st and 2nd August

#1 Post by nige »

People: Pappa Smurff and myself

Duration: 2.30pm Sat to 7pm Sunday

Tide: all stages

Weather: wind sunny calm mild rain more wind

Bait: mack, sandeel, squid

Rigs:various

Results: dogs, pollock, whiting, grey gurnard, starfish.

Report: Picked up Ray sat morning loaded rods tents bait camping stoves bbqs etc etc. With the amount of gear we had you would think it was a week we were going for. Eventually got to Renvyle - took us ages due to traffic. Got set up on Renvyle beach at about 230pm it was blowing f5-f6 while we were there which made casting kinda hard. All baits were tried and tried again but nothing happening both of us blanked. Headed to Tully for food and a pint and to get some more supplies for the night session. Eventually got to Little Killary at about 915pm due to pints in Tully and wine with a friend of Rays ( must get the name of that wine ) carried and dragged all our gear to the mark where nialler was already fishing - will let him do his own report. Had a couple of casts nothing happening so we set up the tents before it got dark and back to the fishing and more drinking :) we fished until 4am with both of us catching about 6 dogs each. Am sure we missed a few bites due to talking and drinking. Back up at 8am and started fishing again with both of us catching 1 dog each, a few small pollock. I had cast the spinning rod out with a 2oz lead and single hook with a sandeel and pulled in a grey gurnard a new species from the shore for me :D The fishing wasnt that good considering the amount of time put in and with the wind really picking up and the heavy rain we decided to head home.
