People:Me and Fishface

Duration:6-30pm-10pm

Tide:rising, then falling, high at 7-30pm

Weather:lovely, no wind ,warm

Bait:rag and mack and crab legs

Rigs:flappers and mini rigs

Results: Me; Corkwing wrasse, tompot blenny, shanny, whiting, codling, pollock, dab
Fishface; Doggie, dab, and whiting

Report:With bad weather forecast for the weekend, i decided to head to Greystones rocks last evening as the weather wasnt too bad. When i arrived at the mark there was no wind, calm seas and sunny weather and it stayed like this till i left, just missing a downpour  .When i opened my packet of rag, they were mostly tiny, but as i was mini fishing they did the job ok. Fishface arrived half an hour later and was using peeler and gave me some of the legs. I got a nice corkwing wrasse on my first cast and a small pollock on the second and this was the pattern for the evening thankfully.

I had about 6 fish when Neil arrived and it was a fish almost every cast( mostly small it has to be said). Neil hadnt the same luck and i had about 20 by the time he landed a fine big doggie, giving him the bragging rights for biggest fish. At one stage he cast out about half a mile but a speedboat ran over the line cutting it and trace and rig were gone. I stuck with my trusty 50 yd long range cast  , and the fish kept biting. For once i used a kid hanging around us to my advantage by getting him to annoy Fishface by asking him how many fish he was catching, and then telling him that the other man was catching loads of fish   No sign of any bass but i was happy enough, a grand relaxing session. I also got a personal best codling of 18 and a half cms (couldve stretched him to 19 cms if i had angled the pic correctly  ).

The peeler legs are deadly, with the fish going for the hook with them on it 100% of the time. We left at 10pm with a big downpour looming, but i managed a small dab on the last cast,,,,,,,,,God is good
