People:me

Duration:9 till 2am
Tide:high at 11.30
Weather:mild no wind nice surf
Bait:peeler then gaper clam
Rigs:4/0 thingy
Results:1 bass 5lb
was using the peeler till about 1am 2 missed bites then as a last ditch effort chucked out a big clam bait and straight away dropped a big fish  , rebaited and got a nice bass after about 10 minutes :D , surprised the peeler didnt get me a fish but its been like that lately despite the good surf :?

Nice bass - those clams seem to work - there are clams where I dig my rag, don't know if they are the same as your gapers but must give them a go the next time I find them.
A few months ago on the Cork beach I usually fish I had a dozen peelers - used the crab on one rod and lug on the other. I got five bass that night, all on the lug, not a touch on the crab. That's the last time I bothered using crab.

There are two types of clams there; the small ones with the serrated edges and bigger oval shaped ones with dark shells.
They look identical to the one in the attached photo that I "borrowed" from another website.

nice one seanie, he's a fine bass :D you've got me thinking of having a go at other baits we come across while we're out digging instead of just the rag and lug we come across
