Wexford Bass 20 July 2009

#1 Post by Danny M. »

People:Baz Pat and Myself

Duration:3 hours

Tide:rising

Weather:warm, nice s/w breeze

Bait: Hard and Soft Plastics

Results: 3 Bass

Report:
Today the time had come to switch from targeting Hounds to targeting the bars of silver. We have had our fill of Hounds for the year so its time to stalk the silver  With the new moon approaching and the tides increasing it was looking good for an evening on the Lures.
The tide was ripping and the lures of all shapes and sizes were flying in all directions in search of Billy the Bass.
About an hour into the session Pat got a take on his Xlayer with a huge splash and the fish was gone, a couple of select words were released by Pat! & I broke into a rendition of "Splish splash I was taking a Bath!!" much to Bazs amuesment
Baz got lamped out of it on the Feed Shallow but didnt hook up unfortunately.
Pat banged the Xlayer back out and this time hooked a fish, and what a scrap it gave him. A solid 5mins of line being stripped and gained by the fish and Pat and a solid bar of silver was landed. What a little scrapper this bugger was, hooked in the top lip. Picture taken etc..
Right so, I clipped on an Xlayer and banged it out, no sooner had I done that when Pat was shouting again. The Xlayer had done the trick again this time the fish came in quitely with no drama, again hooked in the top lip.
Baz missed a couple more fish rising to his surface lures.
Later a fish was spotted swirling on the surface, I flicked my Xlayer out infront of it and Bang fish on hooked again in the top lip,he swam hard with the tidal rip and took line for sport, good craic from the little fella.
Looking forward to tomorrow evening :P

They were in 4-6 foot of water but took the Xlayers near/on the surface.
