Conger fishing Achill island

People : Myself, Gavin and Ciara.

Weather: beautiful and calm.

Tide : riseing

Duration : 7 til 10pm

Rigs : spinners and rotten bottom.

Arrived on Achill on the 27th of june took the adlantic drive couldnt believe what i saw, the sea was like a mill pond.
Decided to hed to porteen with the kids to cath a few mackerel, had a look at the furdest point north of the harbour the sea was so calm we decided to walk out to it , the mackerel were everywhere Gavin got a few pollack and mackerel and Ciara got her first mackerel and her second and her tenth. I lost a large fish on my first cast second cast a conger of 23 pounds and a few pollack.
Sudenly the sea erupted with mackerel flying everywhere and out of the water atleast 3 very large fish i seen of about 50 pounds the guy from Cavan next to me thought they were albacore tuna, I looked it them up on the net and i think they were the fish alright. Great night on the hed going back soon.

welcome to the site gitsea M,well done on the few fish,after that report you wont be able to fish achill,it will be full of lads after albacore tuna,how far off shore were they?

the were 30yards of shore they came up right in front of us and compelty left the water.I new they were tuna just wasnt sure which tuna they were.
